Understand. Respect. Connect.

A new way to work with dogs through The Caring Human Code®.

Transform the Way You
Understand and Work with Dogs

A Different Perspective for Dog Professionals
What if many of the challenges we see in dogs are not problems to control
– but signals we have not yet learned to understand?

Much of the dog industry still focuses on controlling behaviour.
At Nordic Dog Trainer, we teach something fundamentally different.

Our programs introduce a new way of understanding dogs through The Caring Human Code®, our original framework that helps humans recognize and respond to the dog’s natural communication.

This approach is relevant for everyone who works with dogs — whether you are a dog trainer, groomer, shelter worker, breeder, veterinary assistant, dog walker, dog sitter, or another professional dedicated to the wellbeing of dogs.

Rooted in the dog’s natural language and in Scandinavian values of respect and ethical practice, this perspective creates a profound shift in how professionals see and work with dogs in everyday situations.

Rather than focusing first on control, we learn to understand what the dog is communicating – and how our own behaviour influences the interaction.

For many professionals, this becomes a turning point in their work with dogs, opening the door to deeper understanding, improved welfare, and more harmonious relationships between humans and dogs.

Since 2012, dog guardians and dog professionals from more than 60 countries have studied with Nordic Dog Trainer.

At Nordic Academy for Dog Guardians and Nordic School for Dog Professionals, we teach The Caring Human Code® — a humane, ethical, and communication-based approach to life with dogs.

Because every dog deserves to be understood — not controlled.

The Caring Human Code®

The Caring Human Code® is our unique framework for understanding dogs through observation, communication, and trust. The method has been developed through many years of practical work with dogs and humans, and is strongly influenced by the Calming Signals Approach®, which focuses on the dog’s natural communication and stress-reducing signals.

Instead of focusing on controlling behaviour through commands, we learn to observe what the dog is communicating – and how our own actions influence the situation.

For professionals who work with dogs every day – trainers, groomers, shelter staff, breeders, veterinary assistants, dog walkers, dog sitters, and others, this perspective can significantly change how everyday situations are understood and handled.

When we learn to recognize the dog’s communication, many behavioural challenges become easier to interpret and address in a calm and ethical way.

Result:

  • less conflict in everyday work with dogs
  • easier training
  • reduced stress for both dogs and humans
  • stronger and safer relationships between dogs and the people who care for them

The Caring Human Code® offers a practical approach that supports both dog welfare and professional practice, helping professionals build deeper understanding and more respectful interactions with the dogs in their care.

The live sessions were clear and easy to understand. I gained a better understanding of calming signals and learned practical tools I now use daily with my dogs. The hand signals in particular have been very helpful for communication, such as guiding my dogs not to jump up or to stay in place.

– Shawnee, USA

The program was extremely well structured and offered a more direct and interactive learning experience. The live Q&A sessions and video discussions about calming signals and body language made the learning practical and engaging. This has completely changed how I see my dog and our relationship. I now experience a deep connection built on trust, understanding, and respectful communication. The course was a wonderful opportunity to deepen my knowledge and strengthen this bond.
